Service Description

The Practice Support for Mental Health course has been developed to introduce you to the mhGAP Intervention Guide, and the use of the mhGAP Guide to direct assessment and management decisions of Mental, Neurological and Substance abuse (MNS) conditions. The course is designed to help you: Summarize the mental health treatment gap and detail the characteristics and mode of use of the mhGAP Intervention Guide. Identify tips for respectful and effective communication. Detail the steps to perform a Mental, Neurological and Substance abuse (MNS) assessment. Detail the steps for the management of MNS conditions. Differentiate common presentations of MNS conditions. Recognize the central aspects of the assessment and management of MNS conditions. Use the mhGAP Guide to take assessment and management decisions of MNS conditions. This course was developed by NextGenU.org (NGU) and sponsored in part by the Annenberg Physician Training Program (APTP). There are three (3) modules to complete, which include: Module 1: What's mhGAP Module 2: Essential Care & Practice Module 3: Practice Activities Part 1: Assessment and Management of Mental, Neurological and Substance Abuse (MNS) Conditions. Approximate time for completion of this course is 8 hours at an average reading rate of 144 words/minute.
